Camp Nurse
Overview
Camp Daisy and Harry Stein is a residential Jewish summer camp located in the majestic pines of the Prescott National Forest. At an elevation of 6,200 feet, the camp environment provides a calm, relaxing and cool respite from the heat and bustle of the Valley of the Sun. Camp Stein is currently seeking nurses or doctors to oversee its on-site Health Center and manage the day-to-day health needs, medication management and care for our camp community of approximately 130 campers (ages 7-16) and professional staff.

Responsible to:
- Camp Director
Position Responsibilities
- Provide medical care for all campers and staff members at camp, including triage, treatment and deciding when to escalate to urgent care, emergency room or other emergency services
- Maintain, test and log use when necessary, of medical equipment and devices
- Serve as a liaison for parents for health center related issues
- Maintain proper record keeping as required by law and by American Camping Association
- Report all admissions to the Health Center to the Camp Director
- Report camper admissions to Health Center camper parents/guardians when appropriate according to the Camp Communication Protocol.
- Follow the appropriate protocol of documenting incidents involving campers and staff.
- Guide the counselors in regard to their responsibilities in noting and reporting illness, injury, improper eating habits, unsafe practices, symptoms of disturbance and conditions that might contribute to problems with camper or staff health and safety.
- Control and administer all medications and treatments according to the camper’s physician’s order/prescription and keep records of all such treatment.
- Prepare first aid kits for emergency use by counselors for use on hikes, outpost camps and Instruct staff that all treatments must be reported for inclusion in nurse’s report.
- Prepare a close of camp evaluation including: equipment inventory, requisitions for the next summer, treatment records of campers and staff, Health Center and hospital admissions, visits to health care providers, recommendations for health department and medical examination records, and records for insurance companies.
Position Requirements
- Registered Nurse or other medical professional, currently registered to practice in the state of
- Student Nurse position available to enrolled nursing students to work under the supervision of RN, nurse practitioner and/or physician
- Experience in school, camp, or visiting nursing preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively and promptly with campers, parents/guardians, staff, medical colleagues, and support staff
- Current certifications in first aid and CPR
- Driver’s license with clean driving record and ability to drive campers as needed.
