Pearlette Carter –  Camp Nurse

I was born and raised in New Orleans and I now reside in a little Cajun town about 45 minutes away from there where I live with my daughter Rachel, a senior in high school, and my husband Alfred. I have a grown son AJ who actually lives in the Phoenix area. I am employed as a school nurse for the past 7 years. I previously worked for many years
as a bedside nurse and nursing instructor. When the kids came along I sought employment as a school nurse to afford me more time with my children. It sort of gave me a” best of both worlds” experience. While I really missed the bedside experience, my job as a school nurse is very rewarding. I have learned and grown so much. I really have enjoyed my career over the years. My clinical experience in both areas clearly lends itself to camp nursing. I worked last year as a camp nurse in upstate New York last summer and I had a great experience I was taking the place of a nurse who is returning this summer. I have to say I think I’m hooked on camp nursing. I really love working with young people and in spite of all the fun and games camp nursing offers, I take my job as a camp nurse very seriously. I am really looking forward to working at Camp Stein this summer.

Pearlette Carter, RN
