Jason Bronowitz – Director of Jewish Life
Hi, I’m Jason Bronowitz, a second-year rabbinical student at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, recently back from spending a year in Jerusalem. I’m excited to be returning to Camp Stein for my 8th summer, where I’ll be working as Director of Jewish Life, helping make Judaism and Israel relevant and exciting to our camp community. I’ve spent the past four summers as Director of the Big Trip Israel, after three summers as Judaics Director. This summer, I’ll have completed leading my 12th trip to Israel. During the year, I’m the rabbinic intern at Congregation Beth Israel and serve as student rabbi at Congregation Ohr Shalom in Grand Junction, Colorado. I’ve taught entrepreneurship and statistics at Arizona State University for ten years and previously worked in economic development while teaching at Binghamton University. I’ve spent ten summers at Eisner Camp in Great Barrington, MA, as a camper, counselor, unit head and development assistant, before moving to Arizona. I’m currently completing a doctorate in Business Education at Arizona State University. I hold a Certificate in Jewish Education from HUC-JIR and an MA in Economic Development and BA in Economics from Binghamton University.
Emily Rogal – Judaics Director
Hi! I’m Emily Rogal and I am delighted to serve as the Judaics Director at Camp Stein for my second summer. I will be graduating this year from the New School with a degree in Religious Studies with a concentration in gender and ritual. I am also a Hebrew school teacher, a labor and post-partum doula, and a mikveh guide for Immerse NYC, an egalitarian mikveh group that creates meaningful rituals that mark every day transitions. My interests are in body positivity, weird midrashim, and pictures of French bulldogs. I am most excited to come back to camp for Moe’s strawberry salad and for incredible conversations in Limmud.
Jessielyn Kreitzer – Ozrim Director
Helloooooo! My name is Jessielyn Kreitzer and this is my fourth summer at Camp Stein and my sixth summer in Jewish Camping. In the past three years I have been the Activities Director, Chavurah Unit Head, and Big Trip Staff. I loved Camp Stein so much that I recently took a full time position at Congregation Beth Israel as the Director of Youth Engagement and now I get to help with camp all year long! In my full time role I oversee five youth groups, assist with all the youth and family programming, work in the religious school, and fulfill a role on Senior Staff. I am so excited to be the Ozrim Director this year so I can help shape the future leaders of Camp Stein. Get ready for counselor training, career development, and a whole lot of fun!
Jennifer Walker – Big Trip Unit Head
Hi I’m Jennifer and I am so excited to be the Big Trip Unit Head this summer! This will be my 7th year at Camp Stein and I could not imagine spending my summer any other way. During the year I attend Arizona State University where I am working towards completing my Master of Social Work degree. After I graduate, I hope to one day work in adoptions! I also spend a lot of time working with kids of all different ages in different capacities!! I am looking forward to having an awesome summer in Israel with all the kids going!
Megan Uhlig – Bonim Unit Head
Hello! My name is Megan and this will be my third year on staff at Camp Stein. The past two years I have been a general counselor. This year I will be the Bonim unit head! I am very excited to take on this wonderful opportunity. I am originally from Sacramento but now I live in Tucson for school. I will be a senior in the fall at the University of Arizona studying to become a Special Education teacher. I am so excited to return once again with all the people that share the same love for camp!
Julie Johns – Rishonim Unit Head
Hey my name is Julie Johns I am from Virginia Beach! I have currently finished my Social Work undergraduate degree at Virginia Commonwealth University, and plan to continue on to get my Masters in Social Work. During my time away from camp I enjoy spending time with my friends, family and working with my preschoolers at the JCC in Richmond. I am looking forward to having an amazing, and memorable summer at camp with everyone!
Jordyn Blonder – Kadimah Unit Head
Hi guys! My name is Jordyn Blonder and I am thrilled to be returning to Camp Stein for my 5th summer, and will be the Kadimah Unit Head! I am currently in my senior year of Arizona State University’s iTeach program (go devils!) and am completing my student teaching residency in a second grade classroom. Some fun facts about me are that I coach figure skating, I love animals (especially dogs), I enjoy reading, my favorite type of food is Italian, and I have been to Israel twice! I am looking forward to spending my summer with some familiar and not so familiar faces, and getting to know some fun facts about all of you! See you at camp!
Maddy Ginis – Chavurah Unit Head
Hi I’m Maddy! This will be my first year returning to camp since I was in LTP and I can’t wait to be the Chavurah Unit Head! I was born and raised in Phoenix, but currently live in Tucson for school. In May I will be graduating from the University of Arizona (Bear Down!) with a degree in Family Studies and Human Development and after graduation I will be searching for a job in the medical field. When I’m not at camp you can catch me at a coffee shop working on homework, binge watching Netflix or working out at Pure Barre or my local cycle studio. I am looking forward to being back at camp with all of you!
Erik Rendelman – LTP/Giborim Unit Head
Shalom Camp Stein! This will be my 11th summer up in the Prescott Pines; over the years, I have been a camper, Ozrim, counselor, specialist, Rishonim Unit Head, and Program Director. I graduated from NAU in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary and special education, and currently work full time for CBI’s Chanen Preschool, as well as part-time for the Haberkorn Religious School. This year I will be returning as the LTP Unit Head, taking our 10th graders on an unforgettable adventure they will never forget! In my free time, I enjoy hiking, road trips, disc golf, and waiting patiently for new Star Wars movies to come out.
Brian Schanerman – Logistics Director
This is my 25th year working at Camp Pearlstein/Camp Stein. I am currently the Logistics Director at camp but have held multiple positions at camp. I have been a middle school math teacher in the Kyrene School District for 28 years. I am married to Susan, a rabbi at her congregation, Nefesh Soul. We have a son, Ben who attended camp as both a camper and a staff member and currently resides in San Jose, CA
Guy Dunetz – Israel Experience Director
I’m Guy, I’m 23 years old, and I live in Tel Aviv. I have 3 years military service as a combat medic in a search and rescue unit. I worked at camp last summer as a general counselor in Chavurah. I continued travelling for another 4 mounths in the states and Canada.
Now I am working as a MADRICH at EIE NFTY high school program in kibbutz Tzuba.
Amanda Brooks – Programming Director
My name is Amanda Brooks and I am so excited to be the program director for the 3rd summer in a row. A little about myself. I am a fun, creative, and energetic individual. I moved to Arizona about nine years ago from Ohio. I graduated from The Ohio State University (GO BUCKS!) with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education. Soon after, I received a master’s degree from Northern Arizona University in school leadership. Education is my world. I am currently teaching high school in the Paradise Valley School District and I am loving every minute. My true passion in life is Jewish education. I have taught religious school for many years and have worked at a few different Jewish summer camps. I am so excited to once again be apart of the Camp Stein Family and look forward to having a great summer!
Jason Friedman – Activities Director
This will be my fifth summer on staff at Camp Stein and my first on admin! When I am not at camp you can find me at NAU studying Electronic Media and Film and helping to run the student radio station KJACK!
Ben Kahn – Overnight Trip Director
Hello, my name is Ben and I am beyond thrilled to be the Overnight Trip Director this summer. I will be returning for my fifth summer at Camp Stein, having previously attended as a camper and Ozrim program participant. In addition to my experiences at Camp Stein, I spent four summers working for URJ Camp Kalsman. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University and currently teach 7th grade science at Kyrene Akimel A-al Middle School. It is my privilege to be included in what will be a phenomenal staff and receive the opportunity to help make this the most fun, rewarding, and memorable summer for everyone we are proud to welcome into the Camp Stein community.
Shira Khotim – General Counselor
Hi Camp Stein! I could not be more thrilled to be working as a general counselor at Camp this summer. I attended camp in 2014 and went on the Big Trip in 2015. I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona and I am graduating from Arizona School for the Arts this June. After graduation I will be attending the University of Arizona! Bear Down, Arizona! I am an exceptionally passionate, outgoing, and social individual.
I have been a member of Congregation Beth Israel for four years and I am a member and the editor of NFTY-SW! I love being involved in anything Jewish and being immersed within the Jewish Community. I also absolutely love anything musical. In my free time you can find my playing clarinet, singing in choir, or rocking out to songs on the radio. I have one younger sister, and two dogs, who I absolutely adore. Camp is a second home to me and I look forward to having a great time this summer.
Rachel Nach – General Counselor
Hi!! My name is Rachel Nach, I am currently a Freshman at the University of Arizona studying Philosophy, Politics, Economics, and Law. In my free time I love to hike, hang out with friends, and watch movies. This will be my 9th summer attending Camp Stein, and my 2nd summer as a staff member. I will be a general counselor this summer and I can’t wait to see you all!
Stefanie Hymovitch – General Counselor
Hello! I’m Stefanie and I am from Scottsdale, Arizona. I am currently a student at The University of Arizona where I am studying Psychology and am an intern at Hillel. During my time away from camp I like reading, hanging out with friends, traveling, and watching TV shows/movies. This summer will be my 11th summer at Camp Stein. I will be a general counselor and I could not be more excited! I can’t wait for all of the fun that camp brings and to spend the summer in the beautiful Prescott pines!
Aubrey Davis – General Counselor
Shalom! My name is Aubrey Davis and I am from Chandler, Arizona. This fall I will be attending the Honors College at the University of Arizona. I love to play softball and volunteer for Arizona Small Dog Rescue. I usually spend my summers at the Chandler Public Pools scooping Angelo’s Italian Ice, but I am ecstatic to be a counselor for the first time this summer! When I attended camp during my junior high years, I knew that camp was something special. I hope that everyone will feel the same way, and I can’t wait to make amazing memories this summer!
Etai Meretz – General Counselor
Hi, I’m Etai and ill be acting as a camp counselor this summer at Camp Stein. I’m 18 and love playing rugby union, its quite a popular sport down under! So as a rugby player i’m quite a big and strong guy and I love working out in the gym. As mentioned earlier, I live in Australia, however, I’ve traveled quite a bit throughout my lifetime, having lived in Israel, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Sydney. I’m fluent in Hebrew, and have extensive knowledge of Judaism. See you soon!
Hannah Miller – General Counselor
Hi there! My name is Hannah and this is my first year at Camp Stein! I recently graduated from Hamilton high school in 2016. Currently I am attending community college and hoping to further my education at Northern Arizona University. Some of my favorite things entail sports, art, photography, corny jokes, sunflowers, and Dutch Bros. I am super excited to meet new people and make new memories this summer! (:
Skyler Krismann – General Counselor
Hi! My name is Skyler and this is my second year on staff, and seventh at Camp Stein. I am currently a freshman at the University of Delaware where I am studying nursing. I’m so excited to come back for another summer, and to make memories that will last a lifetime!
Abby Adelman – General Counselor
Hi all! My name is Abby and I am from Scottsdale, Arizona. I am so excited to becoming back to camp for my 12th summer as a general counselor. I am currently serving as the NFTY-SW President engaging teens like those from camp in Judaism throughout the year. I also am a long time volunteer with the Swift Youth Foundation, in part giving kids the summer camp experiences I had growing up. Again, I am so excited to be at camp this summer. I can’t wait to meet all of you!
Adam Meilech – General Counselor
Hi! I’m Adam Meilech, and I’m a sophomore at the University of Arizona. I’m studying political science and law. This will be my 5th year at Camp Stein, and I’m super excited to go back. I love hiking, running, and the outdoors. See you this summer!
Hector Mejia – Support Staff
My name is Héctor Mejía im 20 years old and I’m from Xalapa Veracruz while I’m not at camp I dedicate my time to studying right now I’m in the 4th semester of my degree.
I’m so excited to be a part of the kitchen staff because it’s work i usually do in my house so i know I’m capable of doing it very well. Plus the experience of going to another country and meet lots of people its priceless.
Hannah Miller – General Counselor
Hi I’m Hannah Miller from Scottsdale, Arizona. This summer I will be a counselor at Camp Stein. I can’t wait to meet my campers and teach them the importance of Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup Day at camp. When I’m not at camp I love spending time with my family and friends, running, and reading books.
Nathan Pine – General Counselor
Hi, I’m Nathan and I’m from Scottsdale Arizona. I go to Arcadia high school and am planning on attending the University of Arizona next year. While I’m not at camp I enjoy playing lacrosse as well as golf and guitar. I’m excited for camp because I want to give kids the best summer camp experience possible!
Erik Melekh – Mountain Biking Specialist
My name is Erik, I am 18 years old and I go to Malone University in Canton, Ohio. My major is Biochemistry and I am a competitive swimmer representing the university. I love animals and the summer time because I can swim, bike, and just relax outdoors whenever I can.
Sadie Sanders – General Counselor
Hi! I am a freshman at Arizona State University and I am a member of the organization Kappa Alpha Theta. My major is in Family and Human Development so working with kids and groups is what I love. I am originally from San Francisco, California but my parents and I moved to Avondale, Arizona in July of 2016 and we are enjoying the warm lifestyle. I am thrilled to have this experience with all the campers and staff this summer and make some amazing memories.
Alex Torres – Support Staff
Hi! I’m Alex. I’m from Hidalgo, Mexico and I am going to work as a support staff kitchen this summer. Currently I’m a touristic administration student, I like traveling, doing exercise and spending time with my family and friends. Maya Margalit – General Counselor
Hi everyone! My name is Maya I am 21 year old and I am from Israel! A year and a half ago I finished my military service as a tank instructor and my favorite thing in the world is dancing and hiking! This is going to be my second summer at camp stein as a general counselor (last summer I was a kadimah counselor) and I can’t wait to see you all again! I hope this summer will be as fun as it was last year and even better! And that we will share awesome experiences together.Cant wait to see you all again (and meet the new ones!)

Now I just count the days until camp because I’m so excited to see what it looks like, see all the different trees, animals and all around (love nature). I can’t wait to learn about culture and people right there. I’m working hard to learn more about the kitchen and improve my English, of course I still love to wash the dishes!

Hey! My name is Roei Ben David and I’m from Qiryat Ono Israel. I’m 23 years old. For the last 5 years I’ve been an officer in the Israel Air Force and now I’m coming to you guys! In my free time I’m doing some Hiking, playing Handball, Running, Scuba Diving, go to the beach, Wall climbing and more cool staff. I’m Very excited to one of the staff members of camp Stein. It’s my dream for a long time since I was a camper at Camp Wise 8 years ago! Can’t wait till summer!
Jake Siet – General Counselor
Hey everyone! I’m Jake and this may be my 9th summer at Camp Stein, but I know this is going to be the best one yet! I’m currently a Mechanical Engineering major with a minor in High Performance Vehicles at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL. In my free time I enjoy going to the beach, which is just a few blocks away from my campus. I can’t wait to spend my summer in my home away from home!
Romie Livni – General Counselor
I live in Israel in a city call Zichron Yaacov. Right now I serve in the army as a tank instructor, which means I teach the Soldiers and commanders how to shoot the cannon in the tank. before the army I did a year of volunteering (shnat sheirut) in an educational- ecological farm where I taught children of all ages about nature and environment. I have a lot of experience with children and animals. I am very excited to come to your camp this summer because I think it will be a great experience for me and I think I can contribute a lot to the camp and the children.
Daniel Vilensky- General Counselor
Hey, my name is Danny, I am 22 years old. I am living in Netanya Israel. This summer is gonna be my first time as a general counselor. I love the outdoor and all that around it, especially bicycle trips. I am very excited for the summer and hope we will have a great time.
Eva Turner – Song Leader/ Music Specialist
Shalom! My name is Eva and I am super excited to be your Songleader for the summer of 2017! My song leading journey started about 5 years ago when I went to the URJ Kutz camp to learn from professionals such as Dan Nichols and Alan Goodis. Since then, I have returned to learn more about song leading as well as leadership development skills. I was also the Head-Song leader of NFTY-SW for the 2015-2016 school year and have song led all over the country, from Biennial in Florida to a congregation in LA. When I’m not playing music, you can usually find me exploring Phoenix with my close friends, studying, or binge watching Stranger Things. I’m super excited for a great summer!
Sarah Mally – Head Lifeguarding Specialist
Hi, my name is Sarah Mally and I am so excited about the opportunity to serve as the Head Lifeguard Specialist this summer! I am 21 years old, and have just completed my Junior year at Malone University majoring in Special Education with a minor in English. Outside of attending my classes, I am also a member of the University’s Swimming and Diving Team. Additionally, this past school year I served as the Director of Administration on Malone’s Student Senate. I look forward to interacting with my fellow staff members and all the amazing campers this summer at Camp Stein.
Ben Shats – General Counselor
Hii!! I’m Ben from Rishon Lezion, Israel and I’m really excited about coming to camp stein this summer! I’m a nature lover, 4×4 trips, rock climber and a book addict, especially fantasies. I’m just about to finish my service at the navy as a commander of commanders course. This summer is my first time at the camp and I’m going to be a general counselor. I’m really excited to be part of this and can’t wait to see ya all!
Bailee Petrovsky – Horseback Riding Specialist
Hey everyone! My name is Bailee and I’m so excited to be returning to camp for my 9th summer as your horseback riding specialist. I grew up in Prescott and I am currently attending Northern Arizona University and studying communication. I would have to say my favorite part about camp is Saturday Torah Live and cheering about grilled cheese. During my free time I enjoy spending time with my horse and going on adventures. Lets make this summer one for the books!
Reuben Nach – General Counselor
Hey guys! My name is Reuben Nach. I’m from Phoenix, and I am currently going to school at The University of Arizona. I’m studying pre-business, and minoring in Spanish. I’ve been to camp for four summers, but I haven’t been back in four years. I can’t wait to get back, and have an amazing summer
Omri Tishel- General Counselor
Hello, my name is Omri, I’m 20 years old and I live in Kfar Bilu. Before the army, I participated in a mechina, a pre-army program, at Bina: the Secular Yeshiva where I took classes in Jewish studies, volunteered and traveled the country. Most of my army service was spent in a classified role in the Gaza division, and now I’m serving as a commander in a pre-officer course for intelligence soldiers. In my free time, I like to surf, rock-climb, juggle and spend time with my family and friends. Also, when I’m not on base, I work on a start-up with one of my friends.
Hannah Krumholz- General Counselor
Hi! I’m Hannah and this will be my 10th summer at camp. This summer I will be returning as a general counselor. I am currently a freshman at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA. When I’m not at camp, I enjoy playing soccer, guitar, and spending time outdoors. I can’t wait to meet you all and I look forward to a great summer!!
Olivia Hayes – Media Specialist
Hi Camp Stein, my name is Olivia Hayes and I couldn’t be happier that my first ever Summer at Camp will be spent capturing memories with you. I am from Liverpool England commonly known as the birthplace of The Beatles but also home to my favorite Football Team, Liverpool FC. I am a massive Liverpool fan and go to watch games regularly at Anfield, that’s if I am not working away on a music tour. While studying my degree in Media and Communication I work part time with numerous singers on their tours, filming tour diaries for their Youtube Channels. I have been lucky enough to travel all over UK and just before I head out to camp in May will be touring Europe for the first time. I can’t wait to meet you all soon and look forward to the best Summer ever.
