Five incredible days surrounded by water, ocean life, friendship, community, and of course who could forget humidity! This past week the Leadership Training Program, spent our days cooperating and learning to survive with everyone’s contributions. On our way to Ventura, California where we camped at a state beach, we visited the Museum of Tolerance and had the great fortune to learn about our Jewish heritage. The following morning we took a nature walk down Emma Woods State Beach, where we took on the adventure of paddle and boogie boarding. For the duration of the trip, each one of us gained knowledge and life skills that we have the ability to utilize in the cabin, around the camp environment, and even at home. This ties in with the responsibilities we held, like cooking meals for our unit and cleaning up after the campsite.
Other activities we participated in included: kayaking and viewing the sea lions in the Pacific, shopping around town, and running programs made by fellow campers Mainly, we were able to get to know each other better and take valuable lessons from the journey that we encountered. Throughout the trip, the Leadership Training unit bonded together, and I can undoubtedly assure that we all arrived back at camp with a stronger relationship, in comparison to the day we left. This experience allowed us opportunities that the majority of the group had never received prior to the trip, and has left us with memories that will last a lifetime. We are all so thankful and appreciative for the rare moments that we were lucky enough to share as a whole.
Always,
