Chavurah Overnight
Despite the expected monsoon season that July always brings us, Chavurah had a great time on their overnight! As we approached our camp site on Monday evening, the thunderstorm had caught up to us. We watched our staff struggle to put up the tents as they were flying away in the storm. We quickly packed up and relocated our overnight to Sedona, Arizona where we were so grateful to stay at a nearby Synagogue who graciously opened their doors to us. Once we got settled in, our unit played games as we waited for our dinner to arrive. The campers were elated to know that after spending hours in a bus, they were getting pizza delivered for dinner. After dinner we did a bonding activity that truly brought all of the campers closer together. It was a great way to end such an eventful evening. The next morning we woke up bright and early to head out to the Verde River where we got to go Kayaking and play shore games. Unfortunately, about ten minutes before the second group got to head out on the river, another thunderstorm struck and we were unable to complete the kayaking experience. Luckily, we are able to reschedule this amazing experience and every camper who was unable to kayak will be going in the next few days! After two days of being caught in thunder storms, we made the decision to return to camp a day earlier than expected in order to keep everyone safe. Once we finally arrived back at camp, we all got showered, ate dinner, and then ended our Chavurah Overnight with a fun trip to the bowling alley! The overnight was quite eventful to say the least, but we did not let mother nature get in the way of us have a great time!
